About this episode
In this episode of The eCom Show, host Shan A Salam sits down with Haneef Abdurahiman, co-founder of D4D, a retail offers and catalogue aggregator app in the GCC region. Haneef recounts his journey starting after his MBA in 2006, from leaving a corporate BPO job after three months to relocating to Bahrain. He began in cross-border postal mail logistics before pivoting into direct marketing and catalogue distribution during the GCC hypermarket boom. Facing operational hurdles such as extreme desert heat, the team realised digital was the future. Around 2012, they developed D4D to digitise promotional flyers. Overcoming challenges including trademark disputes that briefly removed their app from the Play Store, D4D gained traction with support from major hypermarket chains and government backing in Bahrain. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated print shutdowns, solidifying D4D's transition to a digital platform with over 10 million downloads and more than 400 subscription clients across the GCC.
