About the role
The eCom Show is a weekly Malayalam podcast for people building ecommerce and D2C brands in Kerala. Every episode is a long conversation with a founder or seller, and most of them hold a few moments worth sharing on their own.
We're looking for a freelance editor to find those moments and turn them into short-form videos that travel: Reels and Shorts that people watch to the end, share, and follow us for. You won't be editing the full episodes. This role is all short-form.
What you'll do
- Watch our long-form episodes and pick the moments with the strongest hook: a surprising number, a strong opinion, a story that lands.
- Cut them into Reels and YouTube Shorts with a hook in the first seconds, captions, pacing and on-screen text that keep people watching.
- Try different hooks, formats and lengths, and learn from what performs.
- Deliver on a regular weekly schedule.
Who we're looking for
- You understand Malayalam well. The best moments depend on what's being said, so you need to follow the conversation.
- You've edited short-form content before, and can show us clips that did well.
- You know what makes a Reel work: the first two seconds, captions, cuts, sound and trends.
- You edit in professional desktop software: Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut or After Effects. Phone apps like CapCut aren't enough for this role.
- You hit deadlines without being chased.
Nice to have
- Experience cutting clips from podcasts or interviews.
- Motion graphics for titles and on-screen numbers.
- An interest in ecommerce or business content.
How we hire
- We read every application and look at your samples.
- A short call with the team.
- A paid trial: a few clips from a real episode.
- If it works for both of us, we agree a rate and a weekly schedule.
